Trend Micro tells stories on internet safety via youth video contest

Trend Micro is inviting Filipino youths with a flair for storytelling to create hard-hitting content educating their peers about internet safety.The Japanese security software company has brought the fourth annual “What’s your Story?” video contest for the first time in Asia Pacific. In addition to the Philippines, the CSR campaign will be also launched in Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore.This year’s theme is on how to protect one’s online reputation, which has been in decline steadily in the past years.  Sex scandals are among the most damming consequences of neglecting the responsibility, which has been extensively and often rudely covered by media.But as much as it can destroy lives, stories can also reinforce what is good, says Jenny Chen, chief culture officer of Trend Micro.“We have taken the responsibility upon ourselves to deliver the ideas of online security and online reputation to all families and their children, and would like to promote these ideas via multi-media content,” she adds.The contest is open for individual or school participants under two categories. Videos between 30 seconds and two minutes long must be uploaded on the official competition website from 1 November to 13 December.A grand winner and a runner-up will be chosen in each category will be selected and are entitled to win $2,000 and $600 respectively. The top two entries will represent in the APAC regional level for a chance to take home the top prize of $5,000 each.Trend Micro shared with Marketing that plans for on-ground activation in select malls across the metro is in the works to promote the “What’s your Story?” campaign.
