Building on the success of Force Friday in Hong Kong last year, Toys “R” Us organised a midnight toy launch at their Tsim Sha Tsui store for latest Star Wars iteration Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and related collectibles.
The toy store’s Star Wars campaign kicked off last week with the very first ‘Giant Millennium Falcon Building Event’ at its TST storefront. A number of customers were invited to help build the 12-foot replica using over 200,000 Lego bricks.
The store made sure Hong Kong had the biggest range of Star Wars products in Asia for the event – providing first-to-market limited edition toys, unique personalised products, such as custom printed merchandise, giveaways, a free exclusive poster from the movie and many selfie opportunities with rebels and imperials alike.
About 500 people attended the event, including cosplayers geared up as new heroine Rey, and old favourites like Darth Vader.
The new movie, set to be released in December, will take place between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, and will release alongside new toys, figurines and collectibles.
