TBWA\Asia has appointed of Oliver Kunze (pictured) to the newly created role of chief data officer for the region, based out of Singapore. He will report to Ian Pearman, president of TBWA\Asia and is responsible for the development of a new level of data capability for TBWA, working closely with local markets to help clients distill data complexity into practical and applicable insights.
Kunze brings almost two decades of experience in market research, segmentation, modelling, data strategy, comms planning, measurement, reporting and optimisation. He was previously head of commercial consumer insight at M&C Saatchi UK’s direct and digital agency LIDA.
Before that, he also helmed leadership positions at BBDO, FCB, Wunderman and Y&R, where he led analytics projects for several global brands including Bacardi, Pepsi, Virgin, Jaguar, HP, Carnival and TD Bank. Kunze also worked at Volkswagen Group China, leading regional data strategy and CRM initiatives across ASEAN.
Marketing has reached out to TBWA for additional information.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining such an ambitious group of people, who intuitively understand the value data can unlock for both agency and client. As every part of our industry continues to be transformed by technology, it’s great to be part of a forward-thinking team that is not only embracing the future but proactively helping to shape it,” Kunze said.
“A rocket scientist crossed with eternal optimist, Kunze’s deep experience in the commercial application of customer insight will be key to building out the next generation of TBWA data products and services. We’re overjoyed he’s joining the TBWA collective,” Pearman said.
Earlier this year, the agency brought on board Steve Walls to the role of “disruption master”, in a bid to bolster its regional strategic capabilities. He joins chief strategy officer for Singapore and Southeast Asia, Robin Nayak, and will support strategic planning across the agency collective in Asia. The agency also named Lars Bjorge executive VP and head of customer acquisition of TBWA\Asia in January this year.
