Sunway Putra Mall has launched its “Gift Bank” as part of its year-end CSR initiative to collect donations, such as food, toys and school supplies for the underprivileged children.
The CSR initiative runs until 17 December 2017. One of the mall’s tenants, Toy World, will also contribute 10% of its total sales to support the initiative. Shoppers are also allowed to contribute school essentials, toys and food supplies.
Approximately 40 underprivileged children from Destiny Starting Point, Klang, and 10 visually-impaired children from Dialogue in the Dark Academy, were invited to be part of a charity event held at Sunway Putra Mall. The event also featured 50 beauty contestants from Miss Tourism International 2017, who accompanied the children to pick toys and gifts from stores within the mall. The children also had the first-hand experience of making toys and presents at Santa’s Workshop in the mall.
“We hope to inspire people to remember the less fortunate and give them support, be it contributions in cash or in kind, to create a more compassionate, loving and peaceful community.” chief executive officer of Sunway Malls and Theme Parks HC Chan, said.
In conjunction with the festive holidays, the mall is also setting up a Santa’s Toy Factory inspired décor at its main concourse starting from now until 7 January 2018. Shoppers will stand a chance to win prizes worth up to RM80,000 at its Magical Christmas Wheel.
