Social network takes aim at retail market

A social networking platform is set to launch first in Singapore and Hong Kong next month, before moving on to other markets globally.

Called Glomp, the site allows users to purchase items from a menu of food and beverage products which can be shared and redeemed with messages and vouchers.

The site hopes to launch in time to take advantage of the Christmas and New Year seasons.

Founder of Glomp, Zachary Lai, said the social network is not a competitor to the likes of Facebook and will work together with them.

He said the site is aiming to lift the level of connectivity within the social space.

The free service is yet to reveal its retail partners.

Lai is also the managing and creative director of creative consultancy ZZO Creative in Singapore.
