SMESCO has partnered Shopee in a bid to feature local Indonesian products and increase exposure towards small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The one-week campaign which runs from 6 to 12 February, showcases quality curated products by Indonesian SMEs.
With the theme “Koleksi Etnik Modern” (Modern Ethnic Collection), over 25 million Shopee users in Indonesia will be able to check out “the best” of an ethnic modern collection curated by SMESCO, a government institution responsible for training and facilitating SMEs, on the e-commerce website, Kreasi Nusantara. This includes ethnic products across various categories from fashion, decorations, shoes, accessories, music instruments, and many more.
Ministry of cooperatives and SMEs, Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga, minister of cooperatives and SMEs said, “We have seen tremendous growth of e-commerce in Indonesia and we believe this initiative can help expand the reach of local products to a wider audience.
“We hope this initiative could then give an opportunity for SMEs to showcase their creativity and and moving forward, further tap on the endless possibilities of the growing e-commerce industry,” he added.
“Indonesia is an archipelago with diverse culture and heritage, that is is respected and recognised in the world.[…].We have dedicated a week to put the spotlight on Indonesian modern ethnic collections presented by SMESCO Trade on Shopee Mall. We hope that with this initiative, our users across 515 cities and districts in Indonesia can join us to support Indonesia’s local SMEs,” Chris Feng, CEO of Shopee added.
