SapientNitro and UN Women push for gender diversity

SapientNitro has partnered with Singapore Committee of the UN Women to launch ‘TRIBE’: Promoting Gender Diversity in Leadership. This is an umbrella network for corporate diversity programs.The initiative comes as the two try to counter institutional barriers that continue to exist impeding opportunities for women to rise to their fullest potential. Sapient’s commitment to support every woman’s ability to succeed and advance her career has led to the birth of Sapient WLN - Sapient Women's Leadership Network.Sapient WLN was set up to stem attrition and protect the pipeline of female leaders. Padmini Pandya (pictured right) and Sangeeta Subbrahmanyam (pictured left) lead the Singapore and Hong Kong Chapter of the Sapient WLN. Some of the programs that Pandya and Subbrahmanyam have initiated include a mentorship program as well as discussions about policy on gender equity issues.Pandya said: "For too long gender equity issues have been informal discussions only among women. Making this a concrete responsibility of the company is the only way to affect widespread, sustainable change that the company is accountable for.”Based on each individual's aspirations and interests SapientNitro has matched them with mentors who are both men and women from within and outside Sapient."We are pleased that the mentors whom we approached enthusiastically came forward and are invested in guiding our women through their careers,” Subbrahmanyam said.“Launching Tribe with UN Women was a fantastic first step in connecting corporate gender diversity programs in different industries. As these waters are fairly unchartered, Tribe is a great platform for leveraging and exchanging insights and experiences among our fellow programs,” Subbrahmanyam added.
