Salon de Pro is taking key competitor Bigen (美源髮采) and its iconic brand endorser Kenneth Tsang, head-on with a refreshing new ad to back its latest foam type hair colour, starring local actress Anita Yuen.
For years, the competition between the two Japanese-based companies has been fierce. It was 1986 when the long-established hair color provider Bigen first tapped Kenneth Tsang to star in a 20 seconds TV commercial with the scantiest lines that later become legendary in the advertising scene across the 90’s in Hong Kong.
In 2013, Salon de Pro poached the brand endorser for a new TV spot which said Tsang has moved on to Salon de Pro’s odorless hair colour products for men.
Created by independent creative outfit Two Hundred, Salon de Pro’s latest TV commercial this year appears more eclectic and personal. What do you think?
