Red Bull smokes up Wellington St

With plans to drive an F1 car through the streets of Central locked in, Red Bull is in full swing to promote its second major local event dubbed Red Bull Dragon Run.On 18 June at 6pm, Red Bull Racing Team champ Jaime Alguersuari will drive his F1 machine down Lung Wo Road in Central, following similar events in Singapore and across the US.Like the FluTag event from 2010, Red Bull has again teamed up with TCOB Media to create what it calls Hong Kong's first 4D billboard.Situated on the SoHo escalator, the Red Bull Dragon Run billboard mimics a moving, smoking and noisy racing car driving through the streets of Hong Kong.Every 30 minutes, the billboard kicks into gear and the 1.4m diameter wheel attached to the advertisement begins to spin. Smoke is emitted from the exhaust pipe and viewers can hear the sounds of an F1 car racing through the streets. The Red Bull Dragon Run billboard is a turning point for advertising in Hong Kong, which is generally static and conservative, said TCOB's Keith Robertson."Red Bull is a great client for TCOB as both companies continue to push one another," he added.Last year TCOB created the three meter billboard for Red Bull FlugTag event, which saw a huge pig's rear end protruding out the front of the same billboard on Welling Street.
