The Rakyat Post shuts down

Owing to financial challenges, news portal The Rakyat Post is shutting down 2 years after it started.In an announcement on its Facebook page, it said it is shut down until further notice as of February 29, 2016.It added it would be undergoing restructuring and looking at solving its funding issues, over the next few months.“At our peak we were the 3rd most viewed website in Malaysia on mobile and 13th most viewed on desktop according to global leader in digital measurement and analytics comScore. This would not have been possible without the support of our valued readers,” the statement added.“We would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support since our inception in 2013.”According to local media reports in The Star and Malaysiakini, the publishing company also failed to pay employees for 2 months.
