Travellers are ready to spend in 2013 and Thailand, Hong Kong and Australia are among the top destinations in Asia.
The Consumer Connect – Travel and Tourism 2013 report by CNN shows holiday-makers are willing to spend an average of US$3,000 and make an average three leisure trips every year, as long as safety and security.
More than 60% of those surveyed felt that advertising was a useful source of destination ideas; while 58% have booked entire holidays online.
More than half also admitted that Asia Pacific destinations are on their wish list for the next 12 months.
“These results are great news for the travel and tourism industry. Although CNN consumers are discerning and are price conscious, they are also affluent global travellers,” Duncan Morris, VP of research at Turner International Asia Pacific said.
“At a time where money in the household is perceived to be tighter, spending on holidays is still obviously a priority.”
Hosted on CNN websites, the survey polled more than 3,000 consumers across 70 countries.
