Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) pits itself against budget fliers this summer with a new promo offering discounted tickets that can be used just weeks after they are bought.
Rarely done in high-demand periods such as summer, PAL and its affiliate carrier PAL Express are selling seats to passengers that can be used as soon as two weeks after buying it as part of the “Book now, Fly now” campaign announced Monday.
“This bucks the industry trend of stipulating travel dates way beyond the promo selling periods-sometimes for as long as six months later,” PAL said in a statement.
“As a result, passengers have to endure a lengthy wait despite paying for their tickets in full, depriving them from enjoying the fruits of the promo straight away,” it added.
The promo covers one-way, economy-class travel served by all nine PAL domestic routes eight of PAL Express’ domestic fleet.
The promo fares, however, were available for a limited period from 8 April to 9 April, but the tickets issued can be used from 28 April up to 15 May.
Also, PAL said that the fares do not include fuel surcharge, service charge, terminal fees and also non-refundable.
The carrier did assure that passengers can expect full service on-board that makes them feel “at home,” in line with both airlines’ new brand taglines. Different from other budget airlines, complimentary snacks, drinks, periodicals and other amenities will be given.
