Six months after Bates became Bates CHI & Partners following a joint venture, ex-Bates lead John Ng exits the company.
Ng has now taken on the role of regional media director at Possible Worldwide. He confirmed his departure to Marketing, having left Bates CHI & Partners in May this year. Ng said he simply “wanted something new,” and declined to comment further.
Before Bates rebranded itself following the joint venture with CHI & Partners and headed by David Mayo, Ng was heading the Singapore operations for Bates since early 2011.
After the JV, Bates CHI & Partners hired Louise Kuegler to take up the role of managing director of Singapore and regional client services director in March. Marketing understands Ng was due to leave then, but extended notice until May.
“John left to pursue his personal interests and to take a break from the industry,” said Mayo(pictured), in a statement to Marketing.
“He has been our managing director in Singapore for a couple of years, successfully building business, relationships, campaigns and brands for clients like Disney, Mobil, Singapore Customs and NLB. Of course I wish John well and I am sure our paths will cross again in the future,” said Mayo.
Ng’s last official title at Bates CHI & Partners was that of freelance consultant.
