Singapore - Skyrocketing travel costs and emphasis on cost reduction are making Singapore's travel managers more stressed out than than any other country, says a study by AirPlus International.
But even as the high cost of air travel becomes an increasingly bigger concern for companies, ensuring travel compliance among employees can lower costs, says research by Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT).
One way to reduce costs is to booking in advance of at least two weeks. CWT also recommends utilising preferred suppliers, which when used consistently, can deliver lower overall costs than a mix of a suppliers. "Companies pay on average 23% less for flights with preferred suppliers and 5 to 14% less per room night, depending on the hotel category."
In order to increase traveller compliance, companies should also provide a standardized policy across all offices or around the region. Organisations should also communicate and provide training that will increase employees' compliance awareness, dispel misperceptions as well as increase their understanding of booking processes and tools.
