Singapore - Bugis Street, Singapore's largest street shopping location, is banking on the local star power of former MTV VJs May and Choy to attract shoppers during the upcoming festive period and beyond.
The twins have signed on to become Bugis Street's first ever brand ambassadors and as a result will front a host of events and activities for the next year, as well as appear in various marketing collaterals. The news comes at an interesting time for this outdoor shopping venue, as it undergoes a revamp and upgrade which includes increasing the number of shops from 600 to 800.
"Bugis Street is already well-known for being Singapore's largest street shopping location but we want to enhance the experience of our shoppers; hence our decision to work with May and Choy. It was a natural decision to invite the twins to join our family as they share the same edgy trendiness as Bugis Street that appeals to the youth," Cindy Lee, marketing and communications manager for Bugis Street, said.
May and Choy are represented by Kosmic Film Entertainment which also will be handling events and PR for Bugis Street. Lee declined to reveal the fee paid for the sponsorship.
The venue will also, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, introduce late night shopping hours every Saturday, starting from 22 November, closing only at 11pm.
