China - China is poised to be DHL's biggest market after it exits the US Domestic Express business.
Wu Dongming, managing director of DHL-Sinotrans, a joint venture of DHL and Sinotrans, told local media that the nation will become DHL's largest market in the world in terms of express service volume after it shuts its US Domestic Express business.
Wu was quoted in local press as saying "DHL will continue making investments in infrastructure, skills training and service upgrading, to consolidate its leading position in China."
Since its entry into China in 1986, DHL has invested some US$1.3 billion in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, accounting for more than half its total investment in Asia, local media said.
The company currently enjoys approximately 34% of the Chinese express service market, beating rivals FedEx and UPS.
