FedEx delays launch of APAC hub

China - FedEx has pushed the launch of its Asia Pacific hub from the end of 2008 to the first half of 2009, giving the company time to test the systems in the facility before it begins operations.

The hub, to be situated at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is currently undergoing operation testing, including the Hong Kong/Guangzhou cross border transportation processes, sort systems and flight operations, the company said.

"The revised operations schedule will provide FedEx with the necessary time to fully test all systems and processes and work with the Guangzhou authorities to ensure that all approvals are in place," the company said.

FedEx said customers will not be impacted by the delay, and will continue to be serviced by its Subic Bay Asia Pacific hub.
