Singapore - Global Brands Group (GBG) has agreed an exclusive Master Licensing deal with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), intending to take FIBA ‘beyond a sports brand, to a lifestyle statement'.

The seven year agreement includes the rights for GBG to establish and operate FIBA stores and to act as the on-site merchandise concessionaire at all FIBA's continental and World Championships.

"This is a key addition to our IP stable because of the growing popularity of international basketball and the FIBA brand.  FIBA will benefit from our brand knowledge and network expertise built around our other major sports licensees such as FIFA, the PGA Tour, and the Football Association," Mark Matheny, Co-chairman and CEO for GBG said in a statement.

GBG is a Singapore-based brand management company which builds and commercialises sports and lifestyle brands and intellectual properties through merchandise, manufacturing and retail license agreements. As Marketing reported, the company was recently handed the sports retail concession at the Departure / Transit Mall North of Changi Airport's new Terminal 3.
