Media Prima taps Pixel Media for web-ads
Malaysia – Advertising sales network Pixel Media has been awarded the exclusive rights as third party online advertising sales representative for eight Media Prima Bhd (MPB) owned websites.
Integrated media investment group Alt Media – a Media Prima subsidiary which is listed on Bursa Malaysia’s Main Board – manage the websites currently but with Pixel on board, effective marketing campaigns are expected to be deployed on MPB owned websites through opportunities in online display advertising, sponsorships, video and mobile.
Part of the agreement also holds that Media Prima’s websites will integrate with Pixel’s proprietary online serving and management tool (AiMs) to enable advertisers to deploy a variety of targeting features on the site and robust reporting to measure their campaign performance.
Kevin Huang, chief executive officer (CEO), Pixel Media said the company looks forward to work closely with MPB and increase their advertising sales.
“We aim to do this by leveraging our Asian contacts, client expertise and experience in the market,” he said in a statement.
Shelly Ng, country manager, Pixel Media said the appointment represents a major win for the company, as it becomes the online sales and marketing team for MPB across the Asian markets.
“Being the innovative group that they are, Media Prima is not only ahead of competition but also ahead of its users.
“Through our Asia experience and resources in the industry, we hope to see ongoing growth in the company’s advertising sales figures,” she said.
Ng added that the good news has been very well received so far and Pixel’s clients and the agencies have responded very positively.
Since its appointment, the websites – TV3, 8TV, ntv7, TV9, Hot FM, Fly FM, Gua, and GuaMuzik – have attracted the commitment of big names including Malaysia Airlines, Acer, Lee Jeans, Nike, Maxis.
Abdul Rahman Ahmad, MPB Group managing director and CEO said the websites averaged 75 million page views a month, five million unique visitors and over 20 million video views a month.
“We have invested heavily in building websites for each of our ‘on-air’ entities and we have also created a Malay centric entertainment and lifestyle website – www.gua.com.my – which has been hugely successful,” he said.
Mohd Zulkifli Abdul Jalil, Content, Brand and Marketing general manager, Alt Media said the new collaboration would offer advertisers more than just traffic but sponsorship opportunities that “leverage on our strong and unique content across all our portals”.
“We will work with Pixel Media to further improve our offerings to accommodate the latest in online advertising innovations and technologies,” he added.
Pixel and MPB’s working relationship dates back to 2006 when Pixel represented only 8tv.com.my for ad sales.
After a phased pitch commencing August, Pixel Media was announced to be MPB’s pick in September.
It gained the edge in what was believed to be a three-way competition with incumbent Innity and a new player in the market and was selected based on its regional and local sales expertise and know how and access in technology.
