Global - Apple has launched what it claims to be its greenest product to date with its latest range of notebooks, the MacBook, MacBook Pro, Macbook Air and the LED Cinema Display.

The launches come a week after Apple fired its latest ad campaign lampooning Microsoft's US$300 million marketing efforts to salvage the bad press it has been getting on its Vista platform since its launch, through the use of its "I am a PC" campaign.

The new Apple computers are made with one solid piece of aluminium, which is easily recycled compared to plastics. The laptop reduces the need to create more parts from less biodegradable materials. Equipped with LED-backlit displays which use significantly use less power compared to other alternatives, the screens are also made of glass that are mercury and arsenic free.

Another way it upholds its green marketing claims is the constant changes the brand makes on its product design and packaging - which at an averages see more than a 30% decrease in the creation of wastage.

It meets the stringent Energy Star 4.0, EPEAT Gold and RoHS environmental standards, helping to prevent the creation of toxic chemicals by containing no brominated flame retardants and only using PVC-free internal cables and components.

Apple unveiled the new green products at a media event held in Singapore today.
