Malaysia – The battle for the cheapest seats in the skies is heating up with Air Asia launching its ‘Absolute’ low fares campaign with seats as low as RM1 as a way to highlight the all-Airbus A320 fleet in its Malaysian operations.

The regional campaign will feature print executions as well as heavy promotion on the airline's website, with the rock bottom tickets covering six of Air Asia's hubs – Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Johor (Malaysia), Bangkok (Thailand) and Jakarta and Bali in Indonesia.

Kathleen Tan, regional head of commercial, AirAsia Bhd said: “The ‘Absolute’ low fares campaign uses a strong association between the low fare and destination on offer.”

She says the thematic campaign ‘Absolute Adventure’, ‘Absolute Splendour’ and ‘Absolute Indulgence’ features popular destinations ranging from a family vacation to a romantic sojourn or a backpacking holiday.

AirAsia is looking to use key triggers like comfort and spaciousness of the Airbus A320 during its campaign which runs until Oct 27.

Having had its delivery of 50 airbus units from its order of 175, AirAsia claims to be the biggest operator for A320s worldwide and adds that the new crafts will be known for its leather seated comfort, wider seats and quieter ride.
