Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies (4As) has received a total of 1306 entries for the 2008 Kam Fan Awards, an overall increase of 40% from last year.

A 4As spokesperson said the creative and interactive categories have seen a 40% increase in entries while the media category has increased by a whopping 105%.

The Kam Fan Awards this year is also reaching out to a lot of interested parties with a significant increase from non-members including clients.

The number of entries for new categories this year such as Best Social Media Applications and Best New Ground-Breaking Innovation have been "encouraging".

The Kam Fan Awards themed "It Could Be Anything" this year combines the creative, interactive and media into one mega-event, encompassing online, offline and media awards.

The awards will be judged by two panels. The media judges include media executives KK Tsang, CEO Hong Kong and Shanghai for GroupM; Torie Henderson, managing director at OMD Hong Kong and William Swayne, managing director for Carat Hong Kong. Clients include Alan Wong, director of marketing for DHL Express Hong Kong and Shirley Chung, general manager customer relationship development at Smartone Vodafone.

The creative and interactive judges include an international panel from Jureeporn Thaidumrog from JEH united Bangkok; Masako Okamura, creative director for Dentsu Japan and Ted Royer, ECD and partner for Droga5 New York.

Finalists will be announced during mid-October.

The winners will be announced and awards presented at the Kam Fan Awards Gala Presentation on 7 November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
