Singapore - Astro All Asia Entertainment Networks has entered into a joint venture with AETN All Asia Networks to launch The History Channel and Crime & Investigation Network across the region.
Program schedules for both channels will feature local acquisitions and local productions as well as being fully language-versions available in Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia, Thai and Chinese. Regional markets include Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, The Philippines, Brunei, and Taiwan.
"This venture represents a new model for content providers and platform operators that will become increasingly prevalent in Asia going forward. Joint investment and commitment to localisation of programmes and brands, and sharing complementary expertise as committed partners with aligned interests, should lead to a stronger and more sustainable value proposition for customers," Azran Osman-Rani, senior director of business affairs for Astro said in a statement.
AETN All Asia Networks also has plans to launch The Biography Channel in the region - deploying the brands and programming via VOD, mobile, broadband and HD.
