Shanghai - Incoming Euro RSCG North Asia chairman Joseph Wang will consider local acquisitions as part of a move to strengthen the network's operations.

In his role, Wang (pictured) will oversee operations in Korea, Japan and Greater China, including Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Based in Shanghai, he joins the agency on 1 October, reporting to Olivier Pluquet, the regional CEO for Euro RSCG.

David Jones, global CEO for Euro RSCG Worldwide said Wang holds an "incredibly strong" reputation in the region and is a proven expert in building and growing a network both organically and via acquisitions.

The agency has won more than 150 accounts in Asia last year and has added Hershey's, Chivas, UPS, Carrefour and Bank of China to its books in 2008.

Pluquet said the right individuals are needed to help build on the strong business momentum in the region.

"By establishing a regional management team that can grow our local offices and also help win large regional accounts, I'm confident that we can continue to exceed expectations in Asia,"Pluquet said.

"Joe's expertise in Greater China, his proven ability to manage a diverse group of companies, and his personal experience in acquisition and integration of companies make him an invaluable asset to our regional team".

Wang said that with Greater China being increasingly integrated from a business perspective and the surge in business and trade between China, Korea and Japan; creating a regional structure that encourages this growth is strategically important.

He added with the internationalisation of the export markets, Euro has an important role to play in understanding the local marketplace and providing a strategic point of view.

Wang has been with Ogilvy for the past 13 years having served as vice-chairman for Greater China involved in acquisition and integration of local companies into the group and as the chairman and CEO for Southern and Eastern China overseeing operations spanning Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai including as group MD for Ogilvy Hong Kong.

Before Ogilvy, Wang led the Greater China and Taiwan operations for Bates having established the JV partnership in the mainland.
