Asia telco veteran picks up the call at Maxis
Malaysia - Maxis Communications' freshly minted chief marketing officer Matthew Willsher was rolled out for the media this week at an intimate gathering of Maxis marketing and communications staffers and media, where he told Marketing-interactive.com he was excited by the opportunity Maxis offered.
Willsher has a stong telco heritage having worked with companies like Australian giant Telstra where he was tasked with consumer and youth segment marketing, and most recently holding the post of COO at CSL in Hong Kong.
During his time helming CSL he oversaw the roll out of innovations in mobile data including CSL's 3G DRM-free song download service via EMI as well as other launches of both hardware and services - seen as important in the perennially cut though mobile market of HK.
Before entering the telco category Willsher held roles as brand manager with P&G before spending seven years with BT and also did a stint with LG Telecom in Korea.
Willsher has been working out of Menara Maxis for just two weeks.
