Beijing - The Hoffman Agency has reinforced its commitment to China having appointed Chris Tang as its managing director for Asia Pacific based in Beijing, filling the void vacated by Susan Tomsett in May this year.
The agency has entered the China market in 1999 with an office in Beijing, said to be the first US tech-focused PR firm to operate there, today its China footprint span across Shanghai as well.
Tang reports directly into Lou Hoffman, CEO for the Hoffman agency.
"With a growing number of technology companies turning to this part of the world for growth we have an opportunity to guide these companies in the building of their brands often from ground zero," Hoffman said.
He added,"There's no question that Chris's deep experience in China will be a unique asset for clients looking to make inroads in a market that deviates from the status quo to say the least."
Tang has over 14 years experience in PR and corporate communications. Before joining The Hoffman Agency, she was with Text 100 PR International where she first served as business development manager for Asia Pacific based in Sydney responsible for new business development and marketing initiatives for the company's regional operations.
She relocated to China in 2003 after being promoted as founder and managing director of Text 100 Greater China. In that role, she established the company's Beijing and Shanghai office, expanded the staff from 5 to 50 and grew its client accounts from 0 to over 15 having worked with a variety of clients including IBM, Lenovo, Philips, Rio Tinto, Tektronix and ARM.
Before her stint with Text 100, Tang established her own PR agency in China called Elite Consulting where she handled companies such as Compaq, Ericsson, Digital China, Toshiba, StorageTek, SonicWALL and BULL Systems.
