Singapore - Tiger Aviation Group's Tiger Airways has appointed Interactive Hub (Ihub) as its media sales representative for both its local and Australian websites which targets sectors like finance, consumer electronics, tourism boards, and MICE.

COO of Tiger Airways, Steve Burns said together with the agency it hopes to capitalise on the trend-bucking growth of online travel bookings in APAC. Online customers form 95% of its bookings. According to New York Internet research firm eMarketer, from 2006 to 2010, the India online travel market is expected to grow at 271.6% annually, while Vietnam's online travel sector is forecasted to expand 202% and China's and Indonesia's are seen growing 70% to 83%.

Ihub's regional MD Kenniess Wong says DFP reports by DoubleClick have also shown TigerAirways.com receives more than 1.5 million unique visitors per month, clocking in an average of 5 pages per visit.

"With encouraging statistics such as this, Tiger Airways is making its foray into monetizing its increasing web traffic volume. In our three years of operation, our web domain has been able to attract a growing mass of audience across the region, and therefore we strongly believe that our web environment is able to present a unique opportunity to advertisers," Burns said.

Its low-cost model is obtained though leveraging on its assets to generate revenue from other avenues like from non-flight channels.

Tiger Airways says its first advertiser will start running ads on the website soon.
