Regional - Asian blog advertising community Nuffnang, which first launched in Malaysia and Singapore, has expanded its operations into the Philippines via a joint venture with Filipino outdoor advertising company Outcomm.
Prior to this news, Nuffnang Philippines (Nuffnang.com.ph) which will act as a server of targeted rich media advertising in the local blogosphere, as well as a blogger community, has been actively recruiting for bloggers to kick-start its new operations. Nuffnang co-founder Cheo Ming Shen says it may take up to three months to "reach a good figure" of around 3,000 bloggers. It takes around two weeks for Nuffnang to start tracking your blog stats once you have signed on.
However, given the nature of the Philippine market, Cheo is looking for Nuffnang Philippines to, in the long-run, reproduce the high recruitment numbers its operations in Malaysia and Singapore have achieved. Nuffnang launched in those markets early last year, and it has since taken on over 45,000 bloggers as well served ads for clients such as Nike, Citibank, Honda, Nokia, F&N, and AirAsia.
Currently, Nuffnang Philippines employs a staff of four. "We were looking at several markets [to expand into] but Outcomm approached us and we have a really good feeling about this partnership," Cheo says. Further expansion into more Asian markets is also on the cards for the company "depending on where we can find good partners," he adds.
