Role description:

  • Lead the development and implementation of commodity/supplier-specific supply chain strategies to ensure Continuity of Supply as key member of the Commodity Team. Act as single point of contact for material shortage related escalations from Regional Buyer/Planners to World Wide Procurement.
    Demonstrate strategic thinking and sense of ownership in pro-actively recommending and driving actions around identified risks to continuity of supply.
    Lead conference calls and meetings, address questions with sense of urgency and ownership, receive and/or share information, promote, influence, advise, negotiate, and/or direct vendors, suppliers, peers, staff, and management within and outside the department.
  • Analyze supply chain at the Tier I and Tier II (sub-tier) component level.
• Identification and mitigation of potential risks to Dell's supply chain to ensure continuity of supply for all factories.
• Participate as key member of Commodity Team and core team as single point of contact for continuity of supply.
• Management of product transition with Commodity Team, Regional Buyer/Planner teams and supply base.
• Function as single point of contact for material shortage related escalations from Regional Buyer/Planner to World Wide Procurement.
  • Lead Global Supply Team with Regional Buyer/Planner in attendance.
• Participation in supplier selection and TAM (total available market) management.
• Evaluate supplier performance and prepare feedback. Develop and administer improvement programs.
• Develop long-term relationships with senior management of strategic suppliers for materials, services and technology.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 4-6 years of relevant work experience
• Strong strategic agility to analyze competitive environment and industry trends to drive proper supply chain strategy
• Strong command skills to lead Global Supply Team and to ensure implementation and execution of Continuity of Supply strategy
• Ability to think and act globally across multiple cultures, time zones and functions
• Strong ability to analyze impact of changes in price, availability and ECO's (Engineering Changes Orders) on continuity of supply.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of graphics and spreadsheet software applications.
  • Strong time management skills.
• Understanding of Dell's mid- and long-term (3-18 months) demand for a given group of commodities.
• Prior supply chain experience a bonus, but not a must
