Hong Kong - Finance companies like Standard Chartered are increasingly using rich media over static banners for marketing campaigns, according to online media company Tetris Media.

Standard Chartered has launched a mouse-over expandable ad campaign that includes a real-time calculator allowing users to input data and calculate their stock value on financial portals such as Aastock.com and Finet.hk.

Ricky Ng, business director for Tetris Media said, "Our recent innovative online ad campaigns for Standard Chartered, Merrill Lynch, AMEX and eTrade provide a strong indicator that creative rich media web advertising is not only adored by mainstream AV gadget and FMCG sectors but also in the monetary finance kingdom."

He said there is great potential in the development of webvertising in the banking and finance industry as banking clients will be interested to find out about the wealthy groups when doing branding campaigns through online channels.

Ng observed that the demand for interactive rich media strategies is estimated to have increased dramatically and their next focus is in the luxury brands and corporations such as UPS and DHL that would like to target the wealthy and business professionals.

He said the latest report from Tetris for their financial clients revealed rich media expandable banner ads perform better than classic banner ads in the first phase of a marketing campaign, with total click through rates that are five times higher.
