Global - Friendster has hired former Google regional MD for South Asia, Richard Kimber, as its new CEO.
Kimber can be credited with opening up Google offices in Singapore and Auckland, while rapidly growing its Australian and Korean businesses.
"With more than 75 million users, it is clear that Friendster has already made a dramatic impact. I look forward to growing our business further as we continue our global growth and strong focus on Asia," Kimber said.
In other news Friendster has raised US$20 million in financing led by new investor IDG Ventures, a global network of venture capital funds. The new funding will help Friendster extend its leadership position in the Asia-Pacific region and continue to grow and monetize its global user base.
