Hong Kong- Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) will use ZAC Toons characters on its TV, online and mobile platforms after both parties signed an exclusive deal.

SPTI, which is one of the divisions of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), announced global expansion plans for its mobile entertainment team in 2006. This new deal is believed to further enhance its position in the mobile industry.

"ZAC Toons has achieved much success with their original multiplatform entertainment properties, and we are thrilled to be distributing their refreshing and comical content across Asia," Rosemary Tan, director of SPTI's Mobile Entertainment, commented. The five ZAC Toons cartoon characters will be featured in mobile content such as video greetings, screensavers, wallpapers, voice tones and video episodes.

The UK-based animation studio ZAC Toons currently provides mobile content across 25 mobile carriers in 15 countries to about 400 million subscribers.

Madison Communications, PR for SPTI Asia, said mobile distribution plays a big part in Sony's media assets, and Sony is the first Hollywood Studio that has dedicated resources and built a team specifically for mobile entertainment in Asia.
