Singapore - StarHub Cable TV is not placing its hopes on digital media for financial return for the next two years, according to a recent Fusion Consulting survey.

Respondents from cable operators in Singapore and Brunei indicated that neither IPTV nor mobile content would generate the best financial return in their countries over the next two years.

"While operators in most countries have expectations for either IPTV or mobile TV, or both, the platforms in Singapore and Brunei currently don't see strong potential in either technology because as yet there are no proven business models that look attractive for these relatively small markets," Peter Read (pictured), director and head of media practice at Fusion Consulting told Marketing.

In other findings, interactive TV is expected to be the most lucrative in six countries such as Malaysia with a 50% response rate and Hong Kong with 33%.

The study aimed to determine pay TV operators' choice of interactive TV or mobile TV content in Asia and saw 44 respondents across the Asia Pacific region being surveyed including Singapore, Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
