TVB lends star power to eBay charity
Hong Kong - Television Broadcast is lending its star power to help eBay in an online charity auction for the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.
During the six-month, multi-phase charity program, TVB artistes will auction off their own costumes, accessories, props and other special merchandise on eBay. Proceeds will go to the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.
Kerry Wong, regional managing director for eBay Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau, said the new website, which will be launched this Friday, is pulling Hong Kong charity work into the digital age. "Both donors and non-governmental organisations can transform the way charity is conducted by drawing on eBay's convenient and low-cost online platform."
Virginia Lok, controller in the production resources division of TVB, said the online approach of this campaign has stirred up interest at TVB, and that a combined performance of eBay and its artists will be a major hit for charity in Hong Kong.
