Hong Kong - STAR has nabbed Jonathan Ellis, former commercial director from Eurosport as senior vice president of advertising sales, based in Hong Kong.
He replaces Karen Davidson who left in April and will be reporting directly into STAR COO Laureen Ong.
In his role, Ellis oversees the company's ad sales activities across regional markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
He is also responsible for developing integrated marketing opportunities and value added soultions for advertisers and marketers to reach their consumers in an effective and targeted manner.
Speaking of Ellis's appointment, Ong said:"With someone of Jonathan's experience and track record coming on board, we have an enormous opportunity to further grow our advertising revenues to appropriately reflect our strong viewership across the region".
Ellis said he looks forward to working with his team to maximise ad sales revenues across the region. "We have some truly magnificent properties that audiences have really connected with, and my focus will be on building creative solutionms that our clients can utilise to speak to these millions of viewers", he added.
Prior to STAR, Ellis was commercial director for Eurosport charged to manage, co-ordinate and grow sales within the London division. Before Euro, he was head of business development and commercial development manager for IDS, an ad sales house for Virgin Media TV.
