Malaysia - In an effort to please their new bosses, Malaysia employees are likely to get into workplace accidents, says a report by The Star.
Currently, 12 out of every 1,000 workers in Malaysia get intp accidents, mostly in the manufacturing sector. The government aims to half the accident rate by half by 2020.
According to Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Noraini Ahmad, those fresh from school are liable to get into an accident during their first six months on the job.
"Maybe they are excited about getting their first salaries and are eager to follow their bosses' orders, including doing dangerous tasks without any thought to their safety," said Ahmad.
In order to lower the accident rate, the government aims to raise occupational health and safety awareness in schools.
