Singapore - Singapore-based Flextronics has been selected by HP to manufacture high-volume HP notebook computers.

The deal, struck between Flextronics' computing segment and Hewlett Packard, is seen as a positive win for the electronics manufacturing service provider.

"We are very excited to have been selected by HP to provide services for this significant notebook product," said Sean Burke, president of Flextronic computing segment. "We feel uniquely able to deliver a strong solution based on our growing design capabilities, manufacturing expertise, global footprint and our strong vertical solutions for notebook components."

The business unit recently acquired Arima Corporation's notebook business, giving its notebook ODM (original design manufacturer) capabilities a boost. It currently designs, builds, ships and provides logistics services to customers in the desktop PC, notebook PC, server, storage and computer peripherals industries.

Flextronics said after its acquisition of Soletron, pro forma FY08 revenues from continuing operations are more than US$33.6 billion.
