Google aims to become a one-stop online shop

Hong Kong - Google has launched Google Trends, a free web trend tool that helps businesses track their online activities. The move follows its partnership with Yahoo, the launch of Adsense and OpenSocial platform in China in recent weeks.

Google Trends allows users to analyse the popularity of search terms across geographic regions, cities and languages and shows the frequency of topics that have appeared in Google news stories. It analyzes a portion of Google web searches to compute how many searches have been done for the terms you enter, relative to the total number of searches done on Google over time.

All the results will be explained in search volume index and news reference volume graphs.

Google's 2008 first quarter report showed revenues of US$5.19 billion, a 42% increase over the same period last year.
