Singapore - Relationship management firm Convergys has appointed Upstream Asia to provide corporate and industry communications support on a regional basis. Upstream's Singapore office will now manage the program, which will be focused on the China and Australia markets.

"Convergys has quite distinct objectives and challenges in Asia, and Upstream's regional focus and deep knowledge of the region fits well with that. In addition, Upstream's approach to thought leadership that's tailored to the needs of businesspeople in this region is also refreshing, and we believe this will give us the edge in building our profile with our key stakeholders," Susan McKay, Director of International Corporate Communications for Convergys, said. This is the first time the company has appointed a regional agency for Asia.

Convergys has recently signed two transformational consulting contracts in Thailand with Advanced Info Service PLC (AIS). Under the terms of the multi-year contracts, Convergys will provide advisory services to transform AIS' customer relationships. AIS is Thailand's largest wireless operator.

"This is wonderful example of how our focus on relationship management can benefit a valued client. By creating a customer driven sales culture where systems, communication, and routines align to customer needs, we can assist AIS in transforming its customer relationships," Iain Hackett, VP and GM for Convergys' Asia-Pacific operations, said.
