Cable TV lands Sixes tournament
Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes will be aired on Ten Sports, one of Cable-TV's sports channels, after both groups agreed on a three-year broadcasting contract.
Mark Burns, director of Cricket Sixes tournament, said the pact will take the Sixes to a whole new level in terms of commercial growth and global exposure.
"With Ten Sports broadcasting the event on its own channels, plus commitments from broadcasters in the other major cricket markets, pictures of the tournament will be available in over 100 million homes worldwide," Peter Hutton, senior VP of Ten Sports, commented.
Two Up Front will handle all Sixes' PR announcements and press events after it won the bid for the business back in May.
It explained that Cricket is an expanding niche sport in HK with over 5,000 men, women and children regularly participating.
"[The deal] will enhance Cable-TV's status as major sports broadcaster-one that carries a variety of international sports from around the world with cricket as a significant part of its programming," Niall Donnelly, editorial director for Two Up Front, added.
