Hong Kong - The South China Morning Post (SCMP) has launched an Olympic micro-site aimed at increasing online eyeballs from overseas readers as well as provide a platform for marketers to advertise on the site.

SCMP's new micro-site will feature news and insights to the Olympics from interviews, in-depth analysis, photo gallery to event information.

Ben Abbotts, marketing manager for South China Morning Post Publishers, said the new micro-site is "a great opportunity to introduce new readers to our brand, content and our main SCMP.com website."

While there is no specific industry that SCMP is targeting with the new site, Abbotts said it would be a good fit for the sports, finance and travel industries.

Apart from conventional ad formats, he said there are opportunities for sponsorship and more creative online ad solutions available for marketers.

The SCMP has been running a teaser campaign to generate interest on the launch and will continue to roll out a number of Olympic related marketing activities from edm campaigns, search marketing and a through-the-line media campaign to drive traffic to the site in the coming months.

Euro RSCG 4D Hong Kong designed the new site.
