Malaysia - Online news website The Malaysian Insider will be getting a new look within the next three months to cater for advertisements, CEO Sreedhar Subramaniam said. Since its launch in February, the website has received over 500,000 unique visitors and 1.5 million page hits per month.

According to Subramaniam, The Malaysian Insider was launched to report on national, political, entertainment and sports news backed by analysis. The target audience is young adults from 25 to 35 who are net savvy. But older groups have been reading our news too, he added. The website runs on an ad-revenue model.

Referring to comments that the reporting appears to favour certain parties, he said it is a tricky balance to report news without personal biases but the editorial attempts to be true and as fair as possible.

The news portal is a brainchild of Subramanian who is president of the Direct Marketing Association Malaysia and ex-COO of NTV7, and Png Hong Kwang, a journalist from the New Straits Times.
