Rajaram returns to media

Singapore - MediaCorp has hired Chitra Rajaram, former GolinHarris regional MD for SE Asia, as deputy editorial director for News, Radio and Print.

Rajaram confirms the appointment which Marketing speculated on in January. She officially joined the media group in March.

In her newly created position, she is tasked with overlooking all editorial matters, content and policies on a group-wide level. Rajaram will also be responsible for synergising the newsrooms for convergence of news platforms for the future.

"I guess in my heart I will always be a journalist. I enjoyed my three years back in PR. But when the opportunity came knocking, it was hard to resist. And this time the challenge of working across three platforms was a bigger draw for me. I did not realise how much I missed the buzz of journalism till I returned. I get to write as well - which I have always enjoyed, " she said.

Rajaram was at Singapore Press Holdings for seven years as Tamil Murasu's editor before joining GolinHarris in 2005 as MD for Singapore.
