Hong Kong - Facebook has made its display advertising available for local marketers in partnership with its minority shareholder Microsoft.
Leslie Chu, country manager Hong Kong & Macao online services group for Microsoft Hong Kong, said the social network site has seen users increased by 250% from 2006 to 2007, boasting more than 1 million users.
Chu said advertising on Facebook will allow marketers to reach an engaged audience, grow the online presence and communicate with the largest social directory on the web.
Raymond Leung, business director, digital for OMD Hong Kong, welcome the move to have a formal sales representative here as it would mean advertising on Facebook will now become more affordable for marketers.
Advertisers will now be able to buy display advertising from skyscrapers to superbanners on Facebook.
However, Leung expects the click through rate to be low and he looks forward to be able to do filtering, targeting and more creative and special buys on the social network.
