Singapore - With the growing forecast of the hospitality and tourism industries, employers in the service sector can look forward to hiring more skilled professionals and workers.

Raffles School of Hospitality @ RP (RSH@RP) is recently established in collaboration by Republic Polytechnic and Raffles Hotels & Resorts, making it the hotel chain’s first partnership with a polytechnic.

Diana Ee Tan, managing director of Raffles Hotels & Resorts commented, “As we are increasingly faced with a shortage of skilled resources in the hospitality industry, this collaboration with Republic Polytechnic could not be more timely.”

Trained by problem-based learning methods, students in the hospitality school will gain service skill-sets as well as academic knowledge required in the industry. They will also go through an experiential-based curriculum in RP’s Training Hotel. In their final year, students will be attached to hotels locally and internationally, including Raffles Hotels.

Professor Low Teck Seng, principal and CEO of Republic Polytechnic said that the course has garnered a good response from students and parents. “It shows that polytechnics should constantly explore ways in which it can better meet the demands and expectations of the industry and the future employment landscape,” he said.

RSH@RP currently offers Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Management, Diploma in Integrated Events Managemen and Diploma in Customer Relationship and Service Management.
