UPS has named Eric W. Kirchner as the president of Freight Forwarding.
Based in US, Kirchner will have global responsibilities, which includes the Asia Pacific region and be in charge of strategy, performance and revenue growth for forwarding services. He will direct transportation and commercial air and ocean carrier relationships. Network management of truckload (TL) and less-than-truckload (LTL) contract services will also be a part of his scope.
Kirchner has been in the transportation industry for 27 years. In 2004, he joined UPS Supply Chain Solutions when UPS acquired Menlo Worldwide Forwarding, where he was the chief operating officer and held positions in sales, field operations and aircraft scheduling.
During his UPS tenure, Kirchner has directed North American freight forwarding and the coordinated with partner carriers. He was also the leader for a project that creates a unified Enterprise Transportation Group for planning and procurement across all business units.
A new senior management team will also oversee UPS' freight forwarding, global brokerage and non-asset network management services.
