HR fails to live up to expectations

HR has failed to meet business executives’ expectations, a new study by Accenture found.

After conducting a survey with 40 CEOs and HR department heads, most of the executives said HR was regarded as the most critical workforce, but failed to live up to the executive’s expectations.

Accenture’s human relations partner, Deepak Malkani, said, “In an adequacy vs expectations survey across different workforce like sales, manufacturing, R&D, HR, etc. HR performed the worst.”

The survey which was also conducted across several fields, such as steel manufacturing, finance and entertainment, found that both old and new economy companies were facing the same severe talent crunch. While the new economy companies were attracting more talent, the study found that old economy companies were better positioned to handle the change in the workforce, by using metric tools to track employee performance.
