DHL and Malaysia Airlines Cargo have signed a strategic air cargo security partnership agreement aimed at allaying fears of customers shipping high-value or sensitive goods.

Under the partnership, the two companies will develop standard operating procedures that support and fulfil customer and governmental security requirements.

"Security is an important element in making the global supply chain more effective and that is why DHL Global Forwarding works closely with key partners to develop joint stringent internal and external security procedures, which are an integral part of a successful supply chain especially for high value shipments," said Ole Ringheim, senior vice president of air freight, DHL Global Forwarding, Asia Pacific.

Malaysia Airlines also joins other international carriers under DHL's Preferred Carrier Program which will put in place essential cargo support mechanisms and offering operational and pricing flexibility.

Shahari Sulaiman, managing director of Malaysia Airlines Cargo said the companies will be developing joint initiatives as they expand their business relationship over the carrier's entire network on its scheduled operations, as well as specialised trade lanes through its charter operations.
