OMD’s Gan leaves comfort zone for new challenge at SMG

Singapore - Starcom Mediavest Group (SMG) Asia has hired OMD Singapore's MD Gan Boon Guan to replace outgoing CEO Jaswinder Kaur.

Gan, who was with OMD for eight years, will be supported in his new role by recently promoted GM for Starcom Singapore, Lee Huei Chern.

"Gan is a veteran, one of the original pillars of the media agency scene in Singapore. Chern is one of our up and coming management talents. Along with our yet-to-be-announced head for IP, I believe we have found the people who will lead the various key business units we have in Singapore to greater success," D Sriram, regional CEO for Starcom said.

Kaur announced her departure in early March as reported byMarketing - she officially steps down in June. 

In other news, SMG Asia has also appointed a new head for Starcom IP but declined to name the hire. In the interim, Pushkar Sane, Asia GM for SMG IP will be oversee the division.

Earlier this year, SMG hired SK Biswas to run the agency's P&G planning business across SE Asia.
