Asia Media expands digital ad coverage
Malaysia - Digital media signage company, Asia Media, recently inked a deal worth RM 200 million to install its Transnet channels in RapidKL buses covering the Klang Valley and the Johor Baru-Singapore route for seven years.
The company is also in the last stage of talks to implement TransNet in aircrafts, trains, taxis, hotels and shopping malls.
The TransNet channel uses LCD digital screens to broadcast advertisement, community driven messages and public service bulletins. The screens are currently in 1,000 RapidKL buses plying various routes across six zones in the Klang Valley. Asia Media's ad clients include telcos, universities and colleges, local and foreign tourism boards, and FMCG companies.
"Asia Media embarked on realising this tremendous opportunity to reach a more populous segment base, by taking into consideration that traditional and conventional ways to reach the consumers were being challenged by the latest gadgetry and a slew of more promising media tools," Ricky Wong, CEO of Asia Media, said.
According to Asia Media, the audited figures reveal that Transnet is viewed by an average of 1.24 million commuters daily and the figures would be far greater if other cross commuters travelling on other forms of transportation were to be included. The figures are expected to double once the company secures other deals in the coming months.
Asia Media claims it is the largest digital media signage company in Malaysia by market size, and has to date sold out almost 78% of its airtime in the Klang Valley worth more than RM 15.6 million after its commercial launch. It expects to hold the largest market slice of the outdoor advertising and digital media segment.
Asia Media has set up venture opportunities in India, Pakistan, Qatar, the UAE and most recently in the Philippines and also set up its own creative arm, Pirana Graphics, headed by former Naga DDB creative staffer, Alan Lim.
